Biography
Julia Sawalha is best known for her role as Saffy in Absolutely Fabulous but her other many television credits include "Midsomer Murders" (Series 18)," Remember Me", "Miss Marple's: Greenshaw's Folly"," Larkrise to Candleford" (Series 4), "Cranford", "Hornblower", "Jonathan Creek", "Time Gentlemen Please", "Faith in the Future", "Pride and Prejudice", "Martin Chuzzlewit", "Bottom", "Tales From the Crypt" and "Press Gang".
On the big screen, Sawalha's credits include Patrick Harkins' THE FINAL CURTAIN, the voice of Ginger in Peter Lord and Nick Park's CHICKEN RUN, Harry Mastrogeorge's VENUS & MARS, Kenneth Branagh's A MIDWINTER'S TALE, Terry Jones' THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS and Claude Whatham's BUDDY'S SONG.
Sawalha started out on the stage at the Newcastle Playhouse, where she appeared in three consecutive Christmas productions for director Ken Hill: The Voyage of the Dawntreader, The Silver Chair and Peter Pan. She also starred in A Midsummer Night's Dream at Stafford Castle, and in The Illusion at the Manchester Royal Exchange, for which she received a special mention at the Olivier Awards and an Ian Charleston Best Actress Commendation. Other credits include starring in Shelagh Stephen's "The Memory of Water" in London's West End and "Dearest Daddy and Darling Daughter" at the Young Vic.
