Marno is a 28 years old musician who has recently moved to Berlin. Marno is suffering from epilepsy and his fits are more frequent if he has other problems to worry about: apartment, job, money and last not least the absence of his girlfriend Barbara who lives some 800 kilometres away in Salzburg. When Marno loses his job as piano teacher in a music school since he had a fit during the classes, he realises the correlation between his existential fear, his inner anger and frustration and the increasing number of his fits. Michael, 48 years old, comes to Berlin in order to get rid of his epilepsy. The Epilepsy Centre is his last hope: he does not respond to medical treatment and now hopes that the seat of the fits, the damaged nerve cells in his brain, can be surgically removed. Two people, one illness: epilepsy. Both are suffering from this illness which illustrates how body and soul are intertwined. The film shows the different approaches of two men in search of curing: Marno who considers the illness as part of himself and wants to live with it; Michael who hopes to defeat his illness by surgery. And finally there is the question: how is it to lose control over oneself, being a bystander, unable to do anything? (DOK.fest München)
