Plots(1)

When psychiatrist Nathan Conrad discovers that his daughter has been kidnapped, the only way he can get her back is to pry critical information from the mind of a seriously disturbed teenager with a secret stuck deep in a blocked memory. The Conrads are the prototypical happy family: Nathan, a successful doctor (Michael Douglas); his loving wife, Aggie (Famke Janssen), who is bedridden with a broken leg suffered in a skiing accident; and eight-year-old Jessie (Skye McCole Bartusiak), an extremely intelligent and well-loved young girl. But late one night Jessie is abducted and used as collateral for a dangerous group of men who will stop at nothing to recover a stolen ten-million-dollar jewel. (official distributor synopsis)

English Psychiatrist Michael Douglas will rescue his daughter from the clutches of the kidnappers, even if medical secrets are on the line! It’s a blend of genre conventions and standard procedures that slightly echoes Howard’s Ransom, and by the end, it starts to kill off brain cells in bulk (thankfully, we're at a cemetery). The uncertainty... will they send poor Sean Bean six feet under again? Let’s not ask if, but how, and I’ll spoil a bit by saying it will be in accelerated proceedings. ()

English In the first two acts, the film is a very solid thriller, but suffers from the traditional pain of Hollywood productions: a botched ending. The main villain always has to suffer the most horrible, original, macabre and I don't know what else death, and there is no other way to do it. Maybe some people like it, but I find it boring. But whatever, Michael Douglas is still a great actor and it's nice to see Sean Bean again after a long time. ()

English Don't Say a Word is a brilliant thriller whose greatest strengths are undoubtedly the excellent performances of the main cast: Michael Douglas, Brittany Murphy, Sean Bean. Fast pace, excellent atmosphere, various shots, slow-motion, flashbacks, simply excellent. It's just a shame about the ending. ()
