Confessions of an Invisible Girl

At first, I was thrown off by the language — Brazilian Portuguese sounded to me like someone trying to learn Esperanto, but that's just my issue. The movie itself didn’t impress either. The filmmakers seem to think that slapping some bangs and glasses on a girl automatically turns her into an "ugly duckling" and then wrapping a cliché story around her would work. Spoiler: it doesn’t. Maybe it’s palatable for kids, especially with all the modern-day themes, but overall, it felt completely unnecessary. (09/29/2021)
