Before Spanish exploration and conquest, the civilizations that ruled and evolved Mesoamerica and the Andean region made extraordinary advances in human society and culture - from the Mayan cities and monuments of Tikal and Chichen Itza to the iconic Incan city of Machu Picchu and the massive scale of the Nasca Lines and Paracas geoglyphs.
