The Frightened City

In this period of my British, black and white, crime, I choose pictures completely blindly, so I was very surprised that I chose a film today, in which Herbert Lom played the role of the main villain again. Although his character did not get much space, it was still a pleasant surprise. The film clearly featured an unnamed Scottish highlander and I must admit that I was quite entertained throughout. The main drawback for me was just the fact that Britain at that time was culturally and legally superior, so it could not compete with American gangster films, which used an arsenal that could arm at least a foot brigade, and in which action had to make room for another (and preferably bigger) action. Well, this meant that this gangster film was too chambered for me, but it still had its qualities, so I was actually quite a satisfied viewer. / Lesson: Beware of French people of both genders. 3*+ (08/31/2024)
