Bailey (The Royals’ Alexandra Park) an aspiring documentary maker joins conservationists Grace (Vampire Academy's Sisi Stringer) and Ben (Hacksaw Ridge’s Harry Greenwood) as they travel deep into the Australian outback to track and record the animals left displaced and devasted by the fires. As night falls, the unsuspecting trio discover a terrifying species - the carnifex, and soon find themselves becoming the ones being tracked. (Maslow Entertainment)

A bloodthirsty Pleistocene koala is forced to change its territory due to Australian bushfires. And Mick Dundee with his tranquilizing maneuver is nowhere to be found... Bringing the "marsupial lion" Thylacoleo carnifex into the present day was a good idea from the creators, as was delaying the reveal of its physical CGI appearance. Add to that a diverse fauna and flora, tolerable characters who gradually swap scientific ambition for self-preservation instincts, and a sly message from a dinosaur fan that life will find a way. For me, it's okay. In the realm of animal horror, there are always more ways to mess things up than to get them right.
