English I haven't read the book, which - given the comments here - is probably a good thing, as I certainly wouldn’t have been able to resist comparing the series to it. I would classify All The Light We Cannot See as a sort of hybrid consisting of a war movie and a fairy tale romance, while I would prefer to take the historical plane (WWII) and its accurateness with a grain of salt. Likewise, I can rise above the linguistic blunders, of which there are quite a few. From a technical point of view, it's a solid piece of work with a believable atmosphere of a bombed-out town on the French coast. The casting in general is good - praise must surely go to Aria Mia Loberti and her debut performance, though the demonic Lars Eidinger was too theatrical and literal by the end. After reading the summary of the book on Wikipedia, I was glad the miniseries ended that way. A weaker four stars! P.S. (Spoiler) I couldn't help but think of old Rose from Titanic at the end. ()

English The subject smells of a big-budget film set in the environment of the Second World War. However, the creators should not have made it a often quite illogical event, which is precisely the illogic that often knocks it down on its knees. It's a shame, the theme is great, as well as the setting. However, there are still moments that turn the whole subject into a terrible farce. It's such a superficial, illogical, but technically well-crafted spectacle. Thank goodness it's only four episodes. ()
