English Director John Carney is a sure bet. If you feel like watching a life drama with a great mix of good music, he will undoubtedly offer it to you. Once, New York romance, Sing Street are beautiful films. It's just a shame that Flora and her son are the most average of all. Even more of a shame that these average qualities fell on a film that takes place in otherwise very dear Dublin to me, where there is no shortage of good musicians. The subject is traditional for the director. Nicely life-like. The shots where Joseph Gordon-Levitt teaches Eve Hewson to play the guitar and occasionally materializes in front of her eyes on the screen are very nice. But Eve, in the main role of Flora, plays a terrible performance, which is perhaps permanently to blame. And the music itself didn't completely fit for me this time either. So once these conditions come together in a musical film, it just can't get any better. ()
