An epic, sweeping tale oozing with French romanticism, and it's no surprise the Poles took it on. I held back the fifth star only because some plot points felt a bit too convenient. And when the finale should've tugged at our heartstrings, it wrapped up surprisingly quickly in just three minutes. But overall, this is a beautiful two-and-a-half-hour historical story that showcases 1930s Poland, both in the city and the countryside. It features excellent performances and a classic storyline that will captivate any viewer looking for a solid film.
