There will be a rat-catcher and his rats, and the music will be as good as it used to be. The concert features a fairly original theme (melodies that get stuck in your head) and clichéd genre conventions (like the ghoul from the dark returning the ball with a bat). One might even enjoy it, if Maestro Thoroddsen's amoroso finale hadn’t been more about desperation than virtue. Now one has to fear playing Eagles' "Hotel California" backwards, lest it summon Julian Sands. (01/29/2024)
