Csungi, boxer at the Pécs VSK, prepares for a great demonstration. He, the "eternal second", is going to fight against the Olympic champion, Vörös Jóska, in Budapest. The participation at the world championship is at stake. The enemies are in fact friends who embarked upon their careers and even got married together. Vörös has been successful, he owns an apartment, wealth, everything, but Csungi is still happier as the champion sacrificed his family and privacy for his achievements. Csungi, who is in overwhelmingly good shape, wants to knock out his rival, but his outspoken trainer, uncle Kaja, prefers the tactics of the mind instead. The clever sticking about, however, is not considered sufficient against a champion in the world of the ring which considers international fame of primary importance. The men assigning the scores have known the outcome from the start, and the audience demonstrates for Csungi, having forced down his friend, in vain. (official distributor synopsis)
