For me, the main problem of the series was the fact that it was French. I've never been a fan of French cinema (with honorable exceptions). It felt like a wild, untamed ride, teeming with peculiar characters in a town where familial bonds trumped all, and where logic took a backseat. Still, I won't completely write off the series. It did have its moments of humor and intrigue, and just because it didn't win me over doesn't mean it couldn't charm someone else. / Lesson learned: When exploring an old mine, bring along your trusty sister for company. This series blends the eerie atmosphere of the legendary Crimson Rivers with a modern young adult horror twist. Right from the first episode, you get a glimpse of why French youth might not be the most popular across Europe. Despite their quirks and oddities, you eventually get used to the main characters, even if they are a bit eccentric. There’s even a completely unnecessary gay scene, which seems to be a staple in Western horror-crime dramas these days. However, the show’s atmosphere, the stunning setting of the Alpine foothills, and the intriguing premise make it worth a watch. I’d say it even delivers a pretty solid finale for its genre. If you know what you’re getting into, you’ll likely enjoy it. (05/07/2024)
