English A British series with an American lead playing the good girl. I can't say I was blown away, but I don’t regret the time spent. I kept imagining how the BBC might have handled this, and surprisingly, Netflix came off as the more likable option, even in terms of political correctness and inclusivity. The story itself felt a bit too transparent; I had my suspicions about the main villain from the pilot, and by the second episode, I was almost certain. When my guess was confirmed at the end, I wasn’t sure if I was more pleased with myself or disappointed with the predictability of the script. Throughout the series, it was clear that it was aimed at a much younger audience, which was reinforced by the portrayal of the main character. She seemed to be crafted to appeal to younger viewers. The show didn’t demand much intellectual engagement and made sure to touch on all the trending topics and groups. Still, I found myself somewhat entertained throughout. Nothing special, but worth a watch. / Lesson learned: Every English girl can become Miss Marple, even if she's actually American. ()
