The body of Eva Blanfield is found in a local dump. When they inform her husband, he claims she had been the victim of a kidnapping. The ransom note threatened to kill her if he contacted the police. He is distraught as he has paid the money, but his wife is dead. Meanwhile, another kidnapping victim Penny Whittaker was released once the ransom was paid. Why release one victim and not the other?
