Z. is a contemplative and restless actor. Although he is attached to his mother, his wife and his son, he is still in pursuit of something else. He is trying to fit his personality as an individual and an actor in his roles, e.g. in the role of the painter Csontvary, whom he is to play on the stage. The life, thoughts and days of the monomaniac painter Csontváry have been filled with the universe, but he and the cosmos were one thing. Csontváry experienced every moment of life as a miracle, and wanted to share that with prophetic, missionary zeal. Is it Csontváry or Z. then, who walks in Libanon, Taormina, Athens and the Arabic desert, hurrying along exhaustedly? The painter in order to fulfil his mission, the actor in order to find himself in the painter. Their fates usher them in among lunatics: the one in order to share himself with others, the other to be absorbed in them at last. (official distributor synopsis)
