John Thornton is a kindly prospector out to make it rich in the snow-covered Yukon. However, he must combat greedy rivals, bitter cold temperatures and other hazards at every turn. He receives invaluable help from Buck, a loyal German shepherd who was stolen from his home and turned into a working sled dog in Alaska.
