In Youth, Beside the Lonely Sea

Short
USA, 1925, 5 min

Plots(1)

This dramatization of a poem by American author Thomas Aldrich depicts the inner monologue of a man who in his youth was surrounded by muses and fairies, but in old age has withered and languishes alone. A filmic meditation on inspiration, the strength of imagination and a fantastical reading of the world, set among lyrical images of nature.
The film was composed for three screens, with the individual images sometimes complementing each other, and was made even before Abel Gance’s Napoleon. (Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival)
