The Porcelian Doll

The three stories take place in an anonymous village. Hötöle, a teenaged village boy, imitates at nights the sports games of those living in the castle, performing much better than they do. He challenges the marauding soldiers passing through the village, the officer putting an end to his glory by emptying his machine gun on him. But Hötöle cannot be overcome by death, either. Csurmándi comes in a black car from the Centre to the village, promising to resurrect the dead. He doesn't come any more and everything is swept away by a storm. The Svabians of the neighbouring village are put into railway coaches. The old Pamers come here to seek shelter. The village people, cautiously though, hide them. When they are to be collected, the old people wander away into the corn fields and disappear. The saplings found in their stead grow into a couple of giant poplars. (Budapest Film)
