Prioritize:
Rise is a hybrid of horror and action film that lacks a sufficiently interesting story. The problem lies with the main antagonist, who is incredibly dull. Carla Gugino, who could have had an interesting character, disappears from the scene too often. In the end, even the main heroine, played by Lucy Liu, isn't written as a particularly compelling character. Simply slightly better mediocrity.
