English Unbreakable for unimaginative simpletons. Death Wish is a remake without ideas or character. Even Willis didn’t really fit. You won’t believe this chief surgeon, who in a garage in a single night learns how to shoot better than professional gangsters. The murders are gritty, like the catharsis brought by the administration of justice. But when justice is meted out to uninteresting, undeveloped bad guys, that catharsis is weak. ()

English Paul Kersey's wife lost her life in an attack and his daughter ended up in hospital. Paul believes the police will catch the criminals soon, but for now they are on the run. So he decides to get a gun and deal with the criminals on his own. This new version of the thriller classic is an enjoyable action flick that relies on solid gunfights, blood and the ever charismatic Bruce Willis. However, as soon as they attempt psychology and serious drama, it stops working. Fortunately, they don't do that very often, it probably couldn't have turned out much better. ()

English Looking at Bruce Willis's filmography, Death Wish seems to be the last genuinely decent film he's been in. And it's not bad at all. Eli Roth knows how to direct a bloodbath, and Bruce knows how to play the tough guy that everyone loves. They both brought their A-game, creating a movie that reminded me why I like Bruce so much. English I'm satisfied and I'm glad that five years after Red 2 Bruce Willis made again a decent movie from my favorite genre, revenge. Story-wise it doesn't bring anything new to the table, but it's a ride from start to finish, decently acted, pleasantly gory, with one solid gore scene and an intense home invasion where the emotions soar to 160 degrees. I had a great time. Eli Roth, Bruce Willis and old-school revenge, I like this triple combo. 80%. ()

English A meaningless remake without any significant directorial signature or any attempt to make the viewer's experience more interesting. A revenge motif, handled in the classic way with all the clichés. There's action and violence here and there, which is primordially expressive, as Roth always does, and Bruce Willis, who plays a stodgy, lifeless doctor and is unfortunately quite good at it. I wanted to say that it’s good to watch once, but actually not, better ignore it. Standard work for a revenge movie. ()

English I didn’t expect much and got more. Alright, I won’t elaborate too much, but Death Wish definitely pleasantly surprised me. I haven’t seen the original with Bronson, so a comparison isn’t relevant, but Bruce Willis delivered an above-average performance for the first time in a long while. In recent years, he’s been stuck in those low-grade movies that even he couldn’t save. Here, it’s a B-movie concept, but it’s spiced up with top-notch action like in the most expensive blockbusters. It’s an R-rated film, so blood is handled like juice, splattering everywhere. The revenge plot is simpler, sometimes even a bit comical when focusing on the characters' actions. But this isn’t Inception; Death Wish simply offers afternoon entertainment where you turn off your brain. Willis still knows how to deliver; the transition from doctor to killer might not be entirely believable, but he handles it excellently. As mentioned, the action is great, with a few intense scenes (the car scene, the moment of falling from the second floor). The ending is almost fairy-tale-like, but this time I’ll forgive the filmmakers. I enjoyed it, and I give it 74%. ()
