Maka’s a Meister and Soul is her Weapon, and they’re a freakin’ lethal team in battle against the monsters and ghouls that feed on innocent souls. That’s when Soul transforms—literally—into a razor-sharp scythe and Maka wields her partner and unleashes her inner-slayer. Fighting alongside their Meister/Weapon classmates, Maka and Soul are the world’s last line of defense against evil. (Crunchyroll)

I'm finding the beginnings harder to swallow lately. This one was a tough nut to crack, too. At first glance – I saw the sun, the moon, God, what is that? I thought. I'm not giving up, that's terrible. And their crazy noses... that's what I was like at the beginning of the show. But now? It's good, I'd watch it again. The big plus here is that there aren't those long stalling scenes where the entire history of the people facing each other is projected, making their fight last for a few hundred episodes. The plot flows nicely here, keeps the tension up, lets you laugh, predict, question. It's beautifully frantic, BOOM BOOM blows, a bit ecchi (if you can say that) at first too, but thankfully no one's panties were showing :-D Each character has their own little quirk, their own unique personality. For example, Kid is absolutely great, always in the middle of a fight... well, you'll see/you've seen. Yeah, I enjoyed all 51 episodes, just the first three a bit less, you just have to adapt a bit – or at least I do. Yikes, I almost forgot to mention Excalibur, he would have driven me nuts – so: "Baaka!". Except I was dying to see Maka's mom and nothing. I think I'll just jump into the manga and maybe I'll have better luck. That reminds me, I have to mention that in my tiny little opinion, the first opening sequence was just perfect :-D I was just blown away, the whole thing – the music, the previews, it fit beautifully.
