English George Clooney had a Coen script and he wanted to make a Coen film, yet somehow it just doesn't feel right, like he doesn't have the right guts, like he just wants to imitate. That seems like a shame to me. The setting is great, and the racist insert is excellent, but the main story just couldn't hold my attention. ()

English It's a shame that the creators didn't manage to liven up the film. Otherwise, it had a great retro vibe, typical Coenesque violence and black humor. They could have done much better. I got a bit bored in places and the incorporation of the black family's problems into the story seemed completely unnecessary. Apart from that, I was quite satisfied, and I had a decent laugh. ()

English Who expected something more than just a standard Coen-esque film will probably be disappointed. As a big fan of Coen-style crime thrillers with a bitter taste, I was completely satisfied. Since I have watched many Coen films, some twists and techniques in the story were predictable for me, but I don't see it as a huge disadvantage. I simply enjoy this type of movies and had a great time watching this one. In my opinion, the whole film was somewhat stolen by Oscar Isaac himself, and even though he appears only briefly, both scenes with him are the highlight of the entire film. In the end, I'm glad that this forgotten 80s script by the Coen brothers didn't end up in the dustbin of history and received its adaptation. ()

English This is just so bland. I don't think George Clooney has ever makes a good movie. I found it very clunky, boring and long-winded. Matt Damon wasn't a good fit for the role, the plot didn't work for me, I didn't find anything funny, and there is a minor editing error in the finale, but it doesn't save the film. It made me suffer. 35% ()

English I might even go so far as to say that Suburbicon is the best film that George Clooney has made so far. What don’t you like about this? God knows when the Coen brothers wrote the story, George decided to make it into a movie modelled after their previous movies and I think he pretty much aced it. You say the movie is superficial and absurd? Well duh! Twenty years ago, Fargo was no different. It’s all about a simple plot which gets really entangled and about the absurdity of life that can drag you to places you would never imagine. It’s the old worn-out record by Messrs. Coens, but it can still provide great entertainment. And the acting in this one is yummy. I personally can’t understand how such a movie can only have a 56 % rating on this site. Either many people forgot who Joel and Ethan Coen are, or everybody is trying to look cool. I don’t get it. ()
