English See No Evil 2 isn't a slasher film that significantly impacts the genre or brings anything new. It's a horror film that plays with what it has and doesn't try to do anything more. It's about slaughter and escape, presented exactly in the form you expect and want. As a bonus, you get fairly tolerable characters as well. I have to say, though, the gore did disappoint me a bit because I expected a bit more from the Soska sisters. Overall, the film held up quite well, and I enjoyed it. ()

English Finally, the much anticipated sequel to the excellent and brutal slasher film has been released, but unfortunately, as they say about sequels that they tend to be worse, See No Evil 2 only confirms it. The film was greatly hurt by the fact that the director is not a man, but two women, which doesn't bode well. A significant step backwards compared to the first one. I consider the first installment to be the most brutal, dirty and insane slasher/survival ride that has been filmed to date, but the second one holds back too much. The morgue setting is a very attractive location, but its potential was not fully exploited. Jacob is still an uncontrollable and unstoppable killing machine, but why on earth is he using his hands, when he has thousands of killing tools at his disposal from knives, saws to scalpels? This was the biggest stumbling block for me. Most deaths are either out of frame or just strangled and thus crap, which I find too uninventive as murder these days. Only two gore scenes are interesting, but that's not enough, especially when in the first one there were more than twenty. Hopefully Alexandre Aja or another butcher will take over next time. I hate the Soska sisters from now on. ()

English I was pretty excited for another slasher with Kane, and I’m far from disappointed. The film moves at a good pace and surprisingly doesn’t have many dull moments. There are a few decent gore scenes, though I did expect more blood, slicing, and torture from the Soska Sisters. Katharine Isabelle’s over-the-top acting was a highlight; her character was delightfully perverse and quirky, making her absolutely irresistible. Overall, I enjoyed what was served up and had a good time watching it. But then came the ending, which was a real kick in the balls to my satisfaction. I still can’t wrap my head around what that was supposed to be?! After such a solid run, I didn’t expect such a half-assed ending, so I have to drop my rating by one star from what I originally intended. Even so, I hope Kane isn’t done yet and that we’ll see him breaking bones, smashing doors, and gouging eyes at least one more time. ()
