Season 1 (2016) (S01)

English Season 1 had a number of weak moments, but I quickly got over them and focused on enjoying the good ones, of which there were thankfully quite a few. The series mixes brutal gore with comedy bordering on farce, bringing in two underground angels, a friendly vampire who’s really into booze and opiates, a preacher with a dark past, and the inhabitants of a small town which I would really hate to find myself in. The season was only slightly above average in my view, but not completely underwhelming either. I'll definitely watch the next one. ()

Pilot (2016) (S01E01)

English Fortunately, I haven't read the comic, so I am going into the series without high expectations. I quite liked the pilot, it introduced interesting characters and a somewhat depressed group of locals led by a priest. There were also a decent amount of action scenes in the beginning, and even some existential philosophizing. The only thing that surprised me was the medieval armory on board a private jet when Cassidy appeared on the scene, but what do I know about the equipment of private planes... ()

See (2016) (S01E02)

English Special, nothing special actually happens in the second episode (except for Cassidy's late snack), but it still has its atmosphere and I enjoyed it. I have no idea why the creators transported me to the year 1881 at the beginning, but I assume I will get an explanation eventually. ()

The Possibilities (2016) (S01E03)

English The third part is of the same quality as both previous episodes, only Cassidy seems to be getting funnier. I feel like if the plot didn't occasionally refresh, it could drag on a bit. I enjoyed how Jesse was getting acquainted with his new abilities, but Tulip is starting to annoy me. Scenes with her are actually always the same, it would be good to change the behavior pattern. ()

Monster Swamp (2016) (S01E04)

English So far the weakest episode, the story somewhat stagnated, the scenes from Jesse's childhood didn't interest me at all, only Cassidy managed to keep the ship afloat. The whole episode seemed completely unnecessary to me, as there was practically no plot development. I hope that in the next episode we will move somewhere after all, I wouldn't want to rate it even lower. ()

South Will Rise Again (2016) (S01E05)

English At the beginning of the episode, they took me back to 1881 again and I don't know anything again. It doesn't matter, explanation will surely come later. The story, however, started moving slowly again and Cassidy and the heavenly agents entertained me. Moreover, Jesse started using his "gift", so there was something to watch. I really didn't understand Tulip's character when she went to rob the pharmacy. The only woman in Annville with this skin color, in clothes she normally wears, must also have some special ability, because all she needs to do is put on a hood and she's perfectly disguised. WTF?! ()

Sundowner (2016) (S01E06)

English The sixth episode was, in my opinion, the best and most entertaining so far. The introduction at the Sundowner motel was fantastic, Tulip didn't repeat the same speeches about leaving all the time, Cassidy was traditionally great, and Jesse was slowly getting closer to the dark side of the Force. The story was running faster for the first time, and it was very noticeable. ()

He Gone (2016) (S01E07)

English In the seventh episode, the pace slowed down again, and I suspect it was because of Jesse's childhood memories, which didn't interest me at all. As usual, Cassidy took care of the best moments, he can save any situation. ()

El Valero (2016) (S01E08)

English The eighth installment, although it treaded a lot in place, I had to add a star for the humor that sometimes crossed into farce. The attack on the church combined with a family picnic reminded me of the Battle of Manassas, the exorcism also had decent grades, and the ending showed that Cassidy will surely be there next time, so it's good for me. ()

Finish the Song (2016) (S01E09)

English No way, I finally got an explanation of the storyline from 1881, but those endless repetitions were a bit annoying, I got tired of Sisyphus pretty quickly. Emily really entertained me during Cassidy's recovery, and I also learned that you can't bring luggage on a trip to Hell. "What about my comics?" ()

Call and Response (2016) (S01E10)

English The tenth episode may not have been a great miracle, but overall I enjoyed it, especially the teleconference with "God" was clever, and as a person from a mining region, I must appreciate the end of Annville. Likewise, I was pleased with Cassidy's return and the wide open ending. So I'm looking forward to the next season. ()

Season 2 (2017) (S02)

English Season 2 started off great but gradually turned into an extremely boring affair. Despite the addition of Klaus Helmut Starr, an instant favorite of mine, there was unfortunately also Denis who was as essential to the story as a grain of rice in a Somali village. Don’t get me started about the Hitler caricature. And then there was also Eugene, whose story I didn’t give a flying flamingo about, so all his scenes (and there were quite a few) were just annoying filler. The second season was simply disappointing compared to the first one. ()

On the Road (2017) (S02E01)

English A solid start to season two. This is the first episode where Tulip didn't annoy me with her repetitive lines and actually became really entertaining. Cassidy, as always, is a guaranteed laugh whenever he's on screen. My sides hurt from laughing! ()

Mumbai Sky Tower (2017) (S02E02)

English I was originally going to give this episode four stars, but Fiora/Ganesh's repeated suicide attempts turning into a profitable business, along with Cassidy's unique way of dealing with depression, clearly deserve a fifth star. So here it is. ()

Damsels (2017) (S02E03)

English A pretty dull episode. I get that they need to set the stage for the rest of the story, and jazz fans might have loved it, but I found it pretty depressing. The opening with Eugene and the girl was amusing, especially considering she would have done more damage if she had shot her knee instead. The character in Hell, who could've resembled Hitler if played by someone else, was just a missed opportunity and felt pretty pathetic. ()

Viktor (2017) (S02E04)

English The weakest part of this episode is the attempt to convince us that the character looks like Hitler. It's just embarrassing. Unlike the previous episode, at least some action took place here, and I didn't have to endure any jazz sessions. I get that people like jazz, but it's not for me, and I'm glad it wasn't featured this time. ()

Sokosha (2017) (S02E06)

English A fun, action-packed ride that kept me engaged the whole time, unlike the previous episode. The ending hints that nothing is set in stone, so I won't be too surprised by future twists, but the soul-trading business was fantastic. ()

Pig (2017) (S02E07)

English This episode earns its four stars thanks to Klaus Helmut Starr. He’s both disgustingly slimy and incredibly entertaining. Combining these two traits, it’s clear he's going to be my new favorite character. ()

Dirty Little Secret (2017) (S02E10)

English The last episode kicked off with a first-person shooter scene, and this one started with Jesus's sex marathon. Keep it coming! I wish Cassidy had more screen time, but Klaus Helmut Starr's presence more than makes up for it. He’s endlessly entertaining. ()

Backdoors (2017) (S02E11)

English Almost as boring as episode eight,. The story barely progressed, even Cassidy wasn’t entertaining, and overall, I felt like someone waiting for a bus that's running late. And that terribly done Uncle Dolfi is really getting on my nerves. ()
