Gregory Peck stars as Sam Varner, an ex-Army man who escorts a girl (Eva Marie Saint) kidnapped by Apaches across the desolate Southwest. Joining them are the girl's half-Indian son and Varner's best friend (Robert Forster). But their long journey across the desert won't be alone. Following close behind is a man intent on stopping them--the boy's homicidal father. (official distributor synopsis)

English When you don't feel like cooking, and you miss conversations over lunch, you sometimes make crazy decisions. So don’t be surprised if your cabin is surrounded by a Stalking Moon, which should have been called Faster than Shit. Fred Karlin's music adds to the suspense, especially in the last almost-thriller third, where good, following established customs, must confront evil, which is outside established norms and for the benefit of the "faceless." I wonder what it would be like if the statuesque dignity of Gregory Peck was replaced by Robert Forster's animalism, and Peck didn’t play a part in it at all. ()
