Blackwater (S02E09)

The best episode of the series so far, hands down. The gripping battle of Kings Landing is not as pompous and clear as the battle scenes in famous films like Gladiator or the Lord of The Rings trilogy. But it does not lack drive, an excellent wartime atmosphere and many unexpected twists and turns in the course of the action. (05/08/2017)

This episode really took me by surprise. I was expecting a build-up to the battle, a quick cut, and then a tally of the dead afterward, but no, this time they actually showed the battle in all its glory. When they weren't preparing for war, they were right in the thick of it. Despite a few extras who clearly didn't pay attention during choreography and looked a bit silly in the fight scenes, the episode as a whole worked wonderfully. Cersei's monologue to Sansa was a perfect touch, and overall, I was very satisfied. (12/10/2017)
