English Given the current times where there’s not much to do besides eating, sleeping, and working, I decided to treat myself and revisit the crime series with Horst Schimanski. The first episode, Duisburg-Ruhrort, is a solid introduction. It starts with Schimi waking up in his messy apartment, surrounded by empty beer bottles, and casually cleaning up the chaos—clearly hinting at a wild night before. Then he heads to his local bar, where the bartender immediately hands him a bill with four tallies—seems like he left without paying last night. That moment alone brought a wave of nostalgia, and I was hooked. The episode moves at a laid-back pace, and while the case itself isn’t particularly gripping, you get a real sense of the gritty, bleak atmosphere of Duisburg and its colorful characters, like the shady Karl. For an hour and a half, it’s definitely worth the ride. ()
