Young Izzy (Leslie Andrews) is a girl with issues. Her parents may be dead. Her older brother is fighting in Iraq and she s raising her younger brother, Kevin, all by herself. Things are tough but, with the help of her motorcycle-riding friend Barney, she deals with her situation the best she can. Sick Girl is a film that wasn't made for a large sum, but that doesn't really matter because the creators put quite a bit of effort into the gore. There isn't much of it, but I'll take it as intentional that some truly gruesome scenes are left to play out off-camera. In the end, the film resonates exactly as the creators desired – the psychological degradation of a person into a raging monster, breaking free from their chains to the extent that they no longer comprehend the consequences of their actions.

For an amateur exploitation flick, Sick Girl is a solid piece of work deserving an above average rating (though the actress playing the main role is awful), but some scenes cross the boundary of what I want, or I’m willing, to see in film (even within the subgenre). Only for niche fans, really…
