Based on the novel by Darryl Ponicsan, the film follows Vietnam veterans Sal Nealon (Bryan Cranston), Larry 'Doc' Shepherd (Steve Carell) and Richard Mueller (Laurence Fishburne) as they embark on a road trip to bury Doc's son, who was killed while serving in Baghdad. Having not spoken since serving together, the trio have all undergone significant changes since they last met but they nevertheless reunite to join Doc in burying his son. However, when he decides against a burial at Arlington, the old friends find they have a longer road ahead as Doc learns more about his son along the way. (Transmission Films)

I think Richard Linklater is a cinematic visionary who can come up with a way of making a film that is simply interesting. I guess that's why I expected more from it than Last Flag Flying gave me. The acting is excellent, but the plot is boring. I expected more.
