Plots(1)

The series chronicles the life and times of Enoch Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi), the city treasurer whose double role as politician and bootlegger makes him the city's undisputed czar at a time when illegal alcohol has opened up highly lucrative opportunities for rumrunners and distributors. In a city defined by notorious backroom politics and vicious power struggles, Nucky must contend with ambitious underlings, relentless Feds, rival gangsters -- including Arnold Rothstein, Lucky Luciano and Al Capone -- and his own appetite for women, profits, and power. Marriage and Hunting (2013) (S04E09)

English Another excellent episode! While schemes unfolded in Atlantic City, most of the action took place in Chicago. I was quite sad to say goodbye to the repressed Mr. Mueller, who has now been replaced by the tough and determined Van Alden. ()

White Horse Pike (2013) (S04E10)

English A fantastic episode. While Chicago delivered the action last time, this episode put the spotlight on Mr. White. It's fascinating to see that both democratic and totalitarian regimes recruit informants for their secret police in exactly the same way. ()

Havre de Grace (2013) (S04E11)

English The story felt like it was running on a side track, and the plotline around Gillian seemed somewhat unnecessary. It didn't need so much screen time. ()

Season 5 (2014) (S05)

English I consider the fifth season the weakest one. Its first four episodes weren’t very convincing, but the entire second half was excellent. The flashbacks to Enoch's childhood and youth were a good idea. I would love to watch a series set in those times, too. I think what hurt the season the most was the six-year time jump, which brought unnecessary chaos to the plot and caused a sudden disappearance of certain characters. ()

Golden Days for Boys and Girls (2014) (S05E01)

English The biggest letdown for me so far. Unlike the previous seasons, there was a lack of continuity with the earlier storyline, making the time jump too jarring. Where previous seasons meticulously addressed the fates of even minor characters, now we see significant figures like Rothstein disappear with barely a mention. On top of that, I found myself pretty bored. ()

King of Norway (2014) (S05E05)

English Finally, the season is picking up steam, though I wish it had happened sooner. The episode was packed with intrigue and some solid action scenes. As always, Mrs. Mueller didn't disappoint, and the flashbacks with Enoch were particularly entertaining. ()

Devil You Know (2014) (S05E06)

English Another strong episode. The scheming was both exciting and grim, and the federal agents were just as ruthless as the mafia. With the dwindling number of characters, it's clear the series is heading toward its conclusion. ()

Friendless Child (2014) (S05E07)

English The episode focused heavily on Gillian's arrival in Atlantic City and the escalating tension between Charlie Luciano and the old guard of the mafia. It was like letting a pike loose in an aquarium. I'm eager to see what the final episode has in store. ()
