Hurveenek and Mánička impatiently wait for the arrival of St. Nicolas. But the forgetful Mr. Spejbl has forgotten about distributing presents, so Hurveenek and Mánička decide to rectify this „unbelievable“ affront by dressing up as the Devil and St. Nicolas themselves and surprise his dad and granny. But granny lets Spejbl know that he´s forgotten about the tradition – and then Mr. Spejbl tries to find a Devil costume…And how does it happen that there´s a gathering of more devils than there should be? This fairytale is full of suspense, songs and winter fun. And have you ever seen Mánička ice-skate? (official distributor synopsis)

English I haven't heard such bad dialogue in a long time. And to hear it from characters like Hurvínek, Spejbl, and Mánička is just sad. It's like we Czechs have forgotten how to make movies about children. If even Spejbl and Hurvínek can't succeed anymore, then I really don't know who should. I guess I’ll give it a few percentage points for the one good joke that made me laugh, although I'm still disappointed. It's just too little for such classic characters. ()

English I'm not entirely sure if this theatrical footage was suitable material for 3D cinema, but so be it. All those earlier encounters between Hurvínek and film look quite similar anyway, starting with Spejbl's film intoxication from 1931. This is a Christmas mini that doesn't make sense to watch in the summer, but the last week of the year might be enjoyable. But I'm happy that the tradition continues and now Hurvínek will be in movie theaters without leashes for the first time. ()
