The film takes place in 1968, in the middle of a student uprising and an antisemitic campaign organized by the communist regime. Captain Rozek of the secret police is ordered to monitor a dissident novelist. To accomplish this mission, he sends his girlfriend, Kamila, who poses as a budding writer, and gradually gains the confidence of the author and his love. Rozek carefully collects information, hoping to be promoted. However, Kamila begins to appreciate the personality, the knowledge and the class of the writer, and to see the vulgarity of the life she shared with Rozek. She then tries to break with her former life, which proves to be far from easy. (CinEast)
