The former general and current mayor of the eastern Slovak village of Zemplínske Hámre, whose population is slowly dying out, refuses to reconcile himself to this dismal fact and decides to take the fate of the village into his own hands. He organises a major introductory get-together where he is determined to pair off young single men and women. In her situational documentary presented at this year’s Berlinale, director Erika Hníková watches to see how successfully the mayor fared. (Karlovy Vary International Film Festival)

English The most interesting thing about the film is that a place like Zemplínske Hámre actually exists, and the movie introduces it to us. Even in today's times, such a phenomenon is peculiar; on the other hand, it shows that the socialization of people can sometimes be problematic. The documentary itself, however, doesn't really say anything substantial. It doesn't judge, it just observes, which I find a pity, and therefore the film didn't grip me that much. ()
