Legend has it that centuries ago, Saint Nicholas was in fact a murderous marauder in medieval times, who was ultimately slain by the villagers he tormented – only to swear a ghostly revenge on their descendants every December 5, the anniversary of his death. Today, the ancient story has been long forgotten and settled comfortably into folklore, until a bloody encounter with the ghoul himself forces local teen Frank to believe in Santa all over again, and save the city of Amsterdam in an all-out bloody battle against a wrathful Santa Claus and his minions. English Saint has one major issue, and that's scenes that aren't fully developed. There's great potential in these scenes to be truly scary or truly gruesome, but they're undermined by poor editing - whether due to technical limitations or a conscious decision about what to show - that completely kills them. Unfortunately, this happens several times throughout the movie. It's a shame because this could have been a really great film, but in the end, it's just average and doesn't stand out in any way. ()

English Santa Klaus has lost his coat, Mrs. Klaus her skirt, they looked for them but didn’t find them, and they were both sad. And I was sad with them (more than usual), because a promising looking film turned out to be a very boring slasher that can only boast an untraditional villain. It’s fun or scary in a few scenes (I counted four in total), but as whole it’s drowning in boring dialogues and slasher clichés. A squandered opportunity, I’ve no problem imagining a great horror B-movie with Santa Klaus, but this sterile flick could never be the way there. Better watch Rare Exports. ()
