English The noisy action and bloody fountains of mutant blood, combined with the revolutionary efforts of the post-Soviet republics, work as standalone components. Yet in the context of a single film, it becomes quite a mess due to the absence of stronger unifying elements, in this case a protagonist who's not cool enough, and it also suffers from annoying soliloquy; fans of the game will obviously get more out of this world. 3 ½. English This is how Resident Evil: Degeneration should have been. Damnation is, in every respect, a better film than its four-year younger predecessor. This time, the story is spot-on, and setting it in a fictional post-Soviet republic was a great idea. The best thing about this film is that there’s action aplenty, and you never have a moment to get bored or feel like nothing is happening. Leon S. Kennedy is excellent again, with some of his lines being perfect. I was also pleased to see Ada Wong appear in the film. The final battle with the towering, nearly invincible zombies was very epic and reinforced my belief that Damnation deserves a solid 80%. EDIT: I didn’t know the Resident Evil series in such detail before, so apologies for calling the Tyrant a "tall zombie," a bit of a slip-up :D. Compared to Vendetta, it falls short, but Leon’s clever one-liners are the main attribute that makes the film a fun watch for a Saturday afternoon. Objectively, it’s a 6/10... but as a fan of the series, I give it a 7/10. ()
