Fair Game (2017) (S06E01)

English Nothing special here. Honestly, I’m not sure what to say about the episode because it was pretty uneventful. I just hope the show doesn’t jump on the human rights bandwagon too hard because I’m already fed up with all the moral preaching. Peter Quinn, despite his massive stroke, seems to be doing okay – more or less. ()

The Man in the Basement (2017) (S06E02)

English Season six of Homeland is shaping up to be a major letdown for me. The spy intrigue I love has taken a backseat, replaced with the creators lecturing about secret services abusing their power to infringe on human rights. I get it, we know this already. It feels completely unnecessary. I’m giving it a bit more time, but if Carrie heads off to Tibet in search of enlightenment, I’m out. ()

The Covenant (2017) (S06E03)

English Finally, I wasn't bored — a first for this season. Saul Berenson and Dar Adal really stepped up, bringing the much-needed spy intrigue to the table. However, Carrie’s storyline is still falling flat for me; I couldn’t care less about the martyr enthusiast. Also, can the creators please reveal the secret behind Quinn’s miraculous recovery? I could definitely use that kind of medical miracle. ()

A Flash of Light (2017) (S06E04)

English The best episode in this season so far, but it still doesn't measure up to the standout episodes of earlier seasons. I can't really get into Carrie's new mission; it's just not resonating with me. The storyline is being carried more by Dar Adal and Saul Berenson, while Peter Quinn lags in the background. ()

Casus Belli (2017) (S06E05)

English Finally, some real Homeland action! But boy, did it take its time! The episode had everything the previous ones were missing: perfect atmosphere, brilliantly escalated tension, quality action, and even an interesting twist. The previous episode gave me hope, but I didn't expect such a dramatic improvement. I'm thoroughly satisfied. ()

The Return (2017) (S06E06)

English The plot wasn't as thrilling as last time, but what the episode lacked in action, it made up for with intrigue and a paranoid atmosphere. It's just a bit of a shame that the president-elect isn't played by an actress with better facial expressions, but you get what you voted for. Overall, a solid episode. ()

Imminent Risk (2017) (S06E07)

English I didn't mind the lack of action in the previous episode, but this one lost its tension and atmosphere, leaving us once again focused on Carrie and her endless skeletons in the closet. It's getting tiresome since this happens every season. Honestly, if it weren't for Javadi and Adal, there wouldn't be much to watch. And that unnecessary explanatory scene at the end? WTF? If you didn't get it before, you might want to switch to a different genre. ()

alt.truth (2017) (S06E08)

English The recent episodes have been a rollercoaster. While the last one was nearing disaster, this one was excellent. The atmosphere was spot on, the tension was perfectly ramped up, and there was some decent action. Quinn was delightfully paranoid (the taped magazine was a nice touch), and Dar Adal's plan gained momentum. I thoroughly enjoyed it. ()

Sock Puppets (2017) (S06E09)

English The one-woman show at the start threw me off, but the episode quickly got on track. I enjoyed the silent war within the CIA and even got used to the female Mickey Rourke look-alike. Dar Adal was still causing chaos, and while I found Peter Quinn's sudden agility and competence a bit hard to believe, it's fiction, and I'm only a little envious. ()

The Flag House (2017) (S06E10)

English The episode kept up the momentum, delivering a strong atmosphere, heightened tension, and a web of intrigue. I had a great time watching it, and it became clear that a family life is absolutely unsuitable for secret agents, even the former ones. ()

R for Romeo (2017) (S06E11)

English You can definitely tell the season is nearing its end. The atmosphere thickened, the tension ramped up with every minute, and this episode was packed with action. There's no need to worry about a dull finale — the creators have clearly not used up all their ammunition. ()

America First (2017) (S06E12)

English I was pumped and excited for the finale. But what the hell was that? The first part was fantastic — dense atmosphere, gripping tension, everything was unfolding perfectly. Then suddenly, the plot jumps six (!!!) weeks ahead, and it stops making sense compared to previous seasons. I can't shake the feeling that the creators played a joke on us. What a letdown. ()

Season 7 (2018) (S07)

English Homeland's seventh season was clearly the weakest one for me so far. This was partly because the events related to Carrie's illness seem to be the same from season to season, as well as the constant fights between the sisters. The story being set in the United States also had a large share in my dissatisfaction. I was missing an enemy that I could resent. It just wasn’t the same without the Muslims. Not even the Russian menace could save it. ()

Enemy of the State (2018) (S07E01)

English I gotta say, my once-beloved series seems to be heading south real fast. While I'm not exactly crazy about the seemingly all-mighty Brother Sam, I gotta give him props for taking on those fanatics. But here's the thing - the first episode left me without anyone to really root for. When the Americans are at each other's throats, I'm just left chuckling from the sidelines. ()

Rebel Rebel (2018) (S07E02)

English While I was initially leaning towards giving the second episode a solid three stars, the plot took a nosedive for me in the third act. It all went downhill when the friendly advisor to the president for national security (daddy Saul) pulled off that cheap trick with the police officer betraying O'Keefe. Talk about weak writing. ()

Standoff (2018) (S07E03)

English I just wish the creators shook things up a bit. It's the same old song and dance with Carrie's mental health. Are we really going down this road again? The medication talk, the breakdowns - it's like hitting replay on a worn-out record. ()

Like Bad at Things (2018) (S07E04)

English I recently watched Waco, and I enjoyed it because it had this atmosphere, this vibe, you know? And that's exactly what was missing from this episode of Homeland. Don't get me wrong, the creators made an effort. They tried to spice things up with that classic commander-making-bad-decisions trope, threw in a botched evacuation of women and children to tug at the heartstrings. But for some reason, it just didn't click for me. It's just Americans fighting one another... ()

Active Measures (2018) (S07E05)

English Well, it's not the Homeland I used to binge-watch, but at least this episode didn't annoy me. The emotional drama in the church didn't disappoint either; it served its purpose well, earning this episode a solid three stars. ()

Species Jump (2018) (S07E06)

English Russia, the perennial foe of the USA, is back in full force, which, honestly, I find more engaging than internal American squabbles or distant Vietnam flashbacks. The creators are back to their usual trick of weaving intricate storylines, though this time it feels a tad less seamless compared to previous seasons. ()

Andante (2018) (S07E07)

English The seventh episode felt a bit uneven to me. On one hand, Saul's storyline kept me engaged, but on the other hand, I found Carrie's argument with her sister and its aftermath repetitive. It feels like a cycle that keeps replaying in different forms throughout the series. ()
