The Angels' Melancholia

Unprecedented level of stupidity and depravity. Not so much because of how violent and extreme it is (Dora can’t hold a candle to the Japanese and French in that respect), but rather because of the moronic pseudo-artistic style in which the perversions are lengthily presented. It's original and very depressing in its own way, but at the same time it's so ugly, boring and unremarkable that it's just an awkward wanking pose by an untalented filmmaker. It probably belongs in the collection of the most disturbing works of cinema, but that was also the only motivation for making it. Obscenity with neither thought nor taste. (11/06/2021)

The Angels' Melancholia is a disgusting film, and its main asset is that it has some emotional impact on you. There are scenes here that you will simply remember or want to forget. It's definitely one of the most extreme films I've ever seen, and I think it will remain so because I realize that this aspect of cinema is starting to lose my interest. It doesn't make any sense to me, but I definitely won't argue that it won't interest anyone, and if it does, I won't judge that person unless they come at me with a knife and a goat on a rope.
