I have to admit that the hysteria around Karel Zeman is a good thing, but it would be nice to see Trnka again. The last time I saw Neb was when I was a child and I've seen it again now and it's not really a fairy tale. It's a myth!

Trnka's films, especially the longer ones, have a strange poetry to them. They're mostly fairy tales, but there's something dark, something unpleasant under the surface. At the same time, it's dreamy and mysterious. Trnka was a master at this, just as he was a master of animation. Here, the animation of action scenes is incredibly pleasing, truly great and dynamic.
