Plots(1)

Ninety-seven years ago, nuclear Armageddon decimated planet Earth, destroying civilization. The only survivors were the 400 inhabitants of 12 international space stations that were in orbit at the time. Three generations have been born in space, the survivors now number 4,000, and resources are running out on their dying "Ark" - the 12 stations now linked together and repurposed to keep the survivors alive. Draconian measures including capital punishment and population control are the order of the day, as the leaders of the Ark take ruthless steps to ensure their future, including secretly exiling a group of 100 juvenile prisoners to the Earth's surface to test whether it's habitable. For the first time in nearly a century, humans have returned to planet Earth. Among the 100 exiles are Clarke, the bright teenage daughter of the Ark's chief medical officer; Wells, son of the Ark's Chancellor; the daredevil Finn; and the brother/sister duo Bellamy and Octavia, whose illegal sibling status has always led them to flaunt the rules. Technologically blind to what's happening on the planet below them, the Ark's leaders - Clarke's widowed mother, Abby; the Chancellor, Jaha; and his shadowy second in command, Kane - are faced with difficult decisions about life, death and the continued existence of the human race. For the 100 young people on Earth, however, the alien planet they've never known is a mysterious realm that can be magical one moment and lethal the next. With the survival of the human race entirely in their hands, THE 100 must find a way to transcend their differences, unite and forge a new path on a wildly changed Earth that's primitive, intense and teeming with the unknown. The 100 (2014) Boo!

English I’m writing my review after having seen three seasons. The show is spectacular but lacks quality acting, writing, and direction. The whole thing strikes me as a failed improvisation, which is a shame because the original idea wasn't bad at all. It's just that the writer obviously stopped coming to work and then it all went downhill. I can’t say the actors didn’t make an effort. On the contrary, they tried so hard that they overdid it. There’s also too much of bathos, heroic poses, declarations, and speeches that make everyone stop even during the fiercest battle. On the other hand, there are things to be learned. For example, that it’s possible to build a hermetic room in 20 minutes in primitive conditions with basic tools using debris from a space station. Most cringeworthy character: Octavia. Most annoying character: the chancellor/prophet Jaha. Let me just add that I’m not an ardent critic of everything on the CW, I did enjoy iZombie. ()

Season 1 (2014) (S01)

English I made it to the end, which I consider a huge success. This is only watchable if you don't use logic, since the writers somehow forgot about it in the plot. I’m giving one star for the main idea with the Ark and sending 100 delinquents instead of guinea pigs or lab rats. Despite my internal suffering, I intend to watch the second season because I'm curious to see if Lincoln and Octavia will have a baby and if so, what car brand name it will have. ()

Season 2 (2014) (S02) Boo!

English The one star for originality I gave Season 1 got buried under an unusually massive pile of crap in Season 2. The writing continues to blatantly ignore even rudimentary logic, and it's replaced by tons of speechifying. New locations were added, and the episode count was, sadly, increased. The dialogue made me feel as if I was bleeding internally. Fortunately, it turned out to be just a kind of phantom pain for the brain cells that died quietly while watching the series. I'm happy to inform you that I'm on my way to recovery. As part of my punishment for all the bad things I've done in my life, I'll masochistically watch the third season. ()

Season 3 (2016) (S03) Boo!

English Wow! I can’t wait for Season 4. In the third season, the writers have really outdone themselves and created a masterpiece that has the color, shape, size, and consistency of a standard product of one’s bowels. The boys and girls are chaotically running around the woods all the time, sometimes accompanied by a couple of adults to show that they are supervised, while everyone is constantly being divided into good and evil. Everything is so predictable it’s pathetic. Jaha the prophet and his virtual goddess just top it all off. Still, if I were a teenager, I'd probably enjoy it. ()

Season 4 (2017) (S04)

English The finale was truly the paramount of nonsense and stupidity. It's already clear that a similar load of crap is waiting for me in the next season. It’s kind of sad that the humor has disappeared from the show. The goofs in the plot used to make me laugh, but their constant repetition makes them tedious. Anyway, like T-700, I proudly declare that "I'll be back!" ()

Echoes (2017) (S04E01)

English Well, here we go again! The start of Season 4 left me with the same mixed feelings as the previous seasons. It’s just the beginning, though, and I don’t want to start off with a Boo! rating. Let’s see where it goes from here. ()

Heavy Lies the Crown (2017) (S04E02) Boo!

English Well, here we go again. I just can't keep it in any longer. The brain trust of teenage engineers, biologists, nuclear physicists, chemists, and doctors are once again at the forefront of saving humanity. After previously managing to create an airtight room from scraps and basic supplies, they're now taking on the task of sealing all of Arkadia. Sure, why not? Expect grand declarations, identity crises, and plenty of melodrama. ()

The Four Horsemen (2017) (S04E03) Boo!

English It's great that radiation sickness isn't contagious, but I still question the wisdom of touching people and their clothes without protection when their radiation levels could max out a Geiger counter. Also, someone needs to cast Marie Avgeropoulos in a "Tough and Tougher" movie or series where she plays both roles. Her performance here certainly earns her that. And of course, this episode brings us more grand speeches and even more melodrama... ()

A Lie Guarded (2017) (S04E04) Boo!

English I just don’t get it. Did the creators of this show really decide to just slap something together and call it a day? Their plot twists are painfully predictable (like the list of chosen ones and the death in the chasm with the "unexpected" resolution). I guess that's enough for them, as long as they remember to tug at the heartstrings. ()

The Tinder Box (2017) (S04E05) Boo!

English Really? I've got a novel idea for you: if someone is lying at your feet with a sniper rifle waiting for their target, skip the chit-chat and kick them in the head. If you don't want to hurt them, kick the barrel of their gun. You're welcome. Use the saved time to grab a bite or take a nap. Another tip: if there's an imminent explosion nearby, get to the epicenter and you'll walk out unscathed. Seriously, I saw it happen. ()

We Will Rise (2017) (S04E06) Boo!

English This episode marked a shift from the previous seasons, trading forest running for more driving around, but it was still enjoyable. Logic, however, seems to be on vacation. Characters who were recently in rehab for serious injuries are now running around happily, and highly volatile rocket fuel is being transferred from barrels to tanks. I can't wait to see how that plays out. ()

Gimme Shelter (2017) (S04E07)

English I was ready to give this episode a zero because the illogical reactions to the radioactive rain were enough to make anyone cry. However, I decided on one star because Emori's tactical move genuinely entertained me. She and John are the most likable characters in the series for me. ()

God Complex (2017) (S04E08)

English Episode eight had its moments, especially the situation with the second test subject, which I found quite entertaining. However, I couldn't shake the feeling that the writers would ruin it by having Clarke play the hero, and guess what? They did. The heavy-handed sentimentality and predictable decisions didn’t help either. ()

Die All, Die Merrily (2017) (S04E10)

English I was pleased that this time around, it wasn't just the disposable characters meeting their end; two significant characters were sacrificed. However, I was once again baffled by the response to the radioactive rain. Last time, there was a half-hearted attempt at decontamination, but now everyone just let it slide. The third star is for the line: "You can’t hide forever!" If you've ever played Syphon Filter 1, you might remember the Lincoln Memorial scene just like I did. And yes, I mean Abraham Lincoln. ()

The Other Side (2017) (S04E11)

English A bit of a rollercoaster. I started off enjoying the intense scheming and strategizing, but then it all got drowned in a wave of melodrama and grandiose declarations. The final straw was Raven’s over-the-top self-rescue, which was too much, even for this show. ()

The Chosen (2017) (S04E12)

English The concept of a large-scale "Sophie's Choice" was a brilliant idea for this episode, but the execution fell flat. I wish I wasn’t such a cynic because then those shots of innocent, confused children's eyes might have moved me more deeply, maybe even bringing a tear to my eye (though in the cold, it would be a hailstone). ()

Praimfaya (2017) (S04E13) Boo!

English I'm not sure if this episode was meant to be a parody or if the creators just think the audience is gullible, but it was packed with more nonsense than ever before. Somehow, they managed to modify a two-person cockpit to fit eight people off-screen, and the cabin looked perfect — almost miraculous. The increase in weight? Not even worth addressing, apparently. Maybe they should have brought in some experts, because only an idiot would think that compromising the integrity of a protective suit (like taking off gloves) would only affect your hands. Similarly, if you remove part of a spacesuit in space, you'd at least expect to freeze. And let's not even start on what someone would eat to survive a global nuclear catastrophe on the planet's surface (just writing that sounds ridiculous). As a bonus, we were treated to the usual mix of motivational speeches, self-sacrifice, and cheesy sentiment. ()

Season 5 (2018) (S05) Boo!

English I would be lying if I said that Season 5 didn't have a single bright moment. The problem with this series was that the script adamantly ignored logic. All the shortcomings of the story were compensated by statements full of pathos, determination and charity, only to be negated by the characters’ actions. I found the season finale terrifying. It was practically back to square one, so all that hell can start all over again. ()

Eden (2018) (S05E01) Boo!

English The episode seamlessly picked up from the finale of the last season. Just like Praimfaya, Eden threw logic out the window, but that only made it more amusing. I loved the idea of digging up a vehicle from beneath sand dunes that instantly works perfectly (let's not mention it survived a nuclear storm), only to be knocked out shortly after by another sand (or dust) storm! That had me in stitches. The abundance of live trees and the valley that somehow dodged the storm but not the radiation was amusing too. So, let’s dive into the berries and water (!!!). Also, why did the main character roast a vulture without plucking it first? What would Jamie Oliver say? The writer amusingly contradicted himself with talks about radiation levels being safe on the surface after five years, yet somehow, everything seemed fine after 42 days. What was that supposed to mean? Sure, the two main characters are Nightbloods, but what about the vulture, trees, and insects? On the bright side, it gave Eliza Taylor a chance to showcase some character acting. ()

Red Queen (2018) (S05E02)

English Props to the creators for finally ridding us of an incredibly annoying character after four seasons. Miyamoto Musashi, Conan, Geralt of Rivia, and Arya Stark would all weep at their skills if they saw the true master of the blade, killer, diplomat, and the funniest character in the show — Octavia (though I sadly can't remember all twenty of her nicknames). I was also amused to learn that, apparently, Black people have their livers on the left side. And I didn't quite get why the revolting hydroponics crew didn't threaten to shoot a few plant hostages — now that could have been hilarious! ()
