I'm quite fond of these time loop films and Welcome to Yesterday is entertainingly presented and it's a shame it doesn't make much inroads into the thriller genre. The first half is quite plodding, but once the attempt starts to work some excellent entertainment comes in, especially from the school setting, but the finale was unfortunately too cluttered and chaotic and I didn't get a very positive impression of it. Fine characters, a fine idea and fine entertainment, but the ambition was higher. 65% ()
Surprisingly, it's not as bad as I thought, although "realistic" handheld camera films just aren't something that can excite me. Quite the opposite, actually. Half of the movie you're watching is filled with quite unnecessary scenes, mainly there to entertain the younger audience, but then there's also an effort to convey some sort of message. The causality isn't flawless, but effort counts in this case. ()
