The Fatal Encounter

First place for the most boring and useless blockbuster of the year goes to?? Huge disappointment. This is what happens when a heretofore inexperienced director (not counting the three romance series) wants to make an epic swashbuckler. Well, of course he failed. The visuals can't be criticized, the filming is decent, the cinematography is perfect, but in everything else the film fails for me. An absolutely uninteresting story, this history didn't interest me at all, and in fact it could have been tolerated if the director had at least served us continuous action scenes, but no... For an hour and 40 minutes (which is almost one whole film!!) you have to wait until the only 20 minute fight, albeit of good quality, bloody and dynamically filmed, takes place, but that is woefully short for a 135 minute running time. Ass scratching is more fun than this boring pathos. The biggest disappointment from Korea in years, but if you like boring historical dramas with no action and only care about the story, you're more likely to be satisfied. 45% (10/09/2014)
