English The discovery of the Year. The best mix of comedy and action in the last decade with very solid acting. I haven't followed Melissa Mccarthy much, but here she proves she's really funny and a great actress. Jude Law is solid as always, Rose Byrne incredibly attractive but also a typical woman, and the absolute biggest surprise is Jason Statham, who steals the whole movie for himself, giving what is probably the performance of his life, completely different from the actor we know him to be (he has a tough guy lines, but he's really more of a doofus and everything comes off as beautifully ironic). I have to praise the action too, not only are the fights almost uncut, the camera rounds everything up nicely from a distance and there is no shortage of perfect choreography and decent moves like in wrestling, which looked admirable in Melissa's performance, the R-rating also adds a nice touch in places. So this is a very entertaining, stylish, polished and elegant spy comedy with lots of memorable scenes (the scene where Statham has a monologue explaining why he is the best agent in the world is the greatest rush of wordplay I have ever seen). Great stuff with unconventional and off-the-wall humor that will tickle the guts of even the introverts. 95% ()

English Spy is the first comedy in a long time that had me rolling on the floor laughing and clutching my stomach - I have to say that right from the start. Unlike the previous film, Bridesmaids, which also starred Melissa McCarthy and Rose Byrne under the direction of Paul Feig, the emphasis with Spy was more on less unsavoury scenes and the focus was mainly on parodying spy movies, and no expense was spared on the comedic use of violence, the clumsiness of the main character and the sharp vocabulary (which was already spicy in Bridesmaids). Personally, it was Susan Cooper's unmistakable clumsiness and sharp demeanour that amused me the most, it made me laugh out loud more than once (the scenes with the blond Anton). Plus Jason Statham, who is basically parodying himself, and in a very good way, was superb. All in all, a sharp comedy that doesn't pull any punches, is brisk, tough, funny – fun guaranteed. ()

English Rough, smart, well-written, well-directed, surprising and incredibly funny. I really wouldn't have expected any of those adjectives in a Melissa McCarthy movie a week ago, and while there are a few weak spots and some of the jokes don't quite hit the mark, the funny ones are still significantly more. And Jason Statham is absolutely awesome! ()

English You hear that something is good, but you don't really believe it. Is the Melissa movie that good? But on the other hand, there are other great actors whom I love, and they're in it too. And Paul Feig has already shown he has a nose for good movies. Plus, they're spies. It all just worked together and I enjoyed this film immensely. ()

English It's a more or less average comedy with an above average Jason Statham in a supporting role, with some really hilarious jokes, a number of obviously improvised and not so good jokes, and action scenes that lack a punch. The two hours was too much and I liked The Heat much better. ()
