Cabaret Balkan

Through a single night in Belgrade, this tragicomical film shows the terror unleashed during the break-up of Yugoslavia. This mosaic of dramatic stories, linked by the character of a taxi-driver, brings together tragic fates as well as explicit images of anger, violence and resignation. This film's Czech title - "The Gunpowder Barrel" - is a poignant metaphor of the Balkan mindset and the local developments. (Summer Film School)
