Moved by the boy’s loss, Gordon vows to catch the killer. Prisoners (2016) (S02E16)

English The episode didn't really have much to offer since it felt like a rehash of classics like The Shawshank Redemption and Lock Up. The only intriguing part was Oswald's new living situation. Other than that, not much happened. ()

Into the Woods (2016) (S02E17)

English I had some serious doubts after the previous episode, but thankfully, they were unfounded. The creators returned to solid storytelling, brought back the gripping atmosphere, and Edward Nygma played his part beautifully. Plus, Oswald's transformation back into the Penguin was spot-on. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. ()

Pinewood (2016) (S02E18)

English The episode was full of comebacks. Characters returned from the asylum, the grave, or just back into action, making me feel like a worker on a recycling line. I don't mind James Frain doesn’t bother me, but his character Galavan really irritates me, no matter what he calls himself, and now the creators have brought him back again. Not thrilled about that. I was also surprised that Mr. Freeze’s first action didn’t excite me much; I found Victor Fries more interesting. The only real highlight of this episode was the investigation at Pinewood Farm, which reminded me of my favorite game series, Resident Evil. ()

Azrael (2016) (S02E19)

English A step up from the previous episode, but the character of Azrael just doesn't do it for me like Edward Nygma does. I'm hoping Penguin finally makes his way out of the family tomb. Meanwhile, Miss Peabody’s enthusiasm for Thorazine keeps things amusing. ()

Unleashed (2016) (S02E20)

English This episode finally hit the mark for me. The story dives deeper into the fascinating world of Indian Hill and its quirky inhabitants, despite Azrael's best efforts to slow things down. Plus, the Penguin is back in action, setting the stage for some exciting episodes ahead. Can't wait to see what's next! ()

Season 3 (2016) (S03)

English The characters I liked the most this season were Penguin, Riddler, Ivy Pepper, and surprisingly Barbara who had been getting on my nerves for two seasons. The romantic/irritating duo of Jim Gordon/Leslie Thompkins, on the other hand, truly managed to bum me out. I liked all those sketchy characters that have emerged in Gotham, and I liked the gradual transformation of the existing characters into future guardians of the city. What disappointed me was the absolutely lackluster Court of Owls and the constant efforts to build up suspense by putting in danger the characters who couldn’t possibly come to any substantial harm. ()

Mad City: Better to Reign in Hell... (2016) (S03E01)

English I was expecting a bigger bang from the season three opener, especially after the explosive end of the last season. The signature Gotham vibe is still there, but the first episode felt a bit sluggish. That said, the Penguin was fantastic, and to my surprise, I actually enjoyed Barbara's character this time around, despite her getting on my nerves for the past two seasons. ()

Mad City: Burn the Witch (2016) (S03E02)

English Season three of Gotham hasn't really grabbed me yet. The plot feels slower compared to the previous seasons, and even though I know comic book adaptations require some suspension of disbelief, the illogical actions of some characters are annoying. I never had an issue with Fish Mooney before, but now she's starting to grate on me. It took me a while to realize why she feels so off — if she had a helmet, she'd look like a mini Magneto with her cape, stride, and mutant entourage. And to top it off, the creators seem to be throwing in soap opera elements, which made the ending feel pretty cheap. ()

Mad City: Look Into My Eyes (2016) (S03E03)

English A big improvement over the last episode, but there were still quite a few issues. For one, has anyone mentioned that Jim must have a titanium skull? Otherwise, I can't see how he'd stay conscious after that home-run hit to the head. Another head-scratcher was Jim's bizarre rescue of a person hanging over a pit — I've never seen anything weirder, though the ending of that scene was pretty hilarious. On the upside, the Penguin's arrival to pick up Nygma was absolutely perfect. ()

Mad City: Anything for You (2016) (S03E05)

English Now this is the Gotham I love. I've always been excited about the Penguin and Nygma, but I have to give a shoutout to Barbara again. In season three, she's really becoming one of my favorite characters, which is a huge turnaround considering she used to drive me nuts in the previous seasons. ()

Mad City: Follow the White Rabbit (2016) (S03E06)

English What a letdown after the previous episode. It felt like watching a bad version of Saw with all the repetitive, annoying decision-making scenes. And don’t even get me started on the Penguin. ()

Mad City: The Executioner (2016) (S03E09)

English Just like the previous episode, the ninth one wasn't bad at all. We see Captain Barnes's transformation continue, and Nygma becoming part of the mayor's portrait (awesome). But the real highlight for me was Ivy Pepper, who, besides her other skills, shows a surprising knack for business. Chelsea Spack clearly has a tough role, but she's doing great. ()

Mad City: Time Bomb (2016) (S03E10)

English Finally, an episode that really entertained me! I learned something new, witnessed a French-style hand execution, and met Dmitry from a mysterious part of Russia where the sunlight is exceptionally intense. It was a fun and intriguing watch. ()

Mad City: Ghosts (2017) (S03E12)

English What a letdown. The episode felt completely pointless and managed to ruin one of my favorite characters, Victor Zsasz. I mean, how can a feared professional hitman miss his target from ten meters away with a sniper rifle? It makes him seem useless. ()

Mad City: Smile Like You Mean It (2017) (S03E13)

English While I’m enjoying the storyline with Penguin, Nygma, Barbara, and the gang, Jerome’s cult just didn’t do it for me. I used to like Jerome, but bringing another character back to life is getting really tiresome. ()

Mad City: The Gentle Art of Making Enemies (2017) (S03E14)

English There was some improvement. Bruce is clearly on the path to becoming Batman, and Nygma decisively ended his unfortunate romance. I also enjoyed the conversations between Jerome and everyone else. The creators threw in a few funny moments too: landlines working in a city without power and Jerome's shrapnel hitting a pole from all sides. Very funny! ()

Heroes Rise: How the Riddler Got His Name (2017) (S03E15)

English A pretty dull episode. The Riddler's storyline was all over the place. The biggest issue is that the creators are trying to create tension when it's obvious all the main characters are perfectly safe. I mean, I'm pretty sure Bruce Wayne will comfortably make it to at least forty, and most of that time will be spent in a dark costume. Just a wild guess, though — what do I know? Also, I had a good laugh during the rescue of acting captain Bullock. These ridiculous moments must be a favorite of the creators because they keep repeating them in different forms. ()

Heroes Rise: These Delicate and Dark Obsessions (2017) (S03E16)

English Either I'm getting too picky, or the creators are struggling to come up with fresh ideas. Things are starting to get repetitive. Right now, I'm enjoying Barbara and Ivy's characters, but the Penguin has become annoying, and Jim is just plain boring with his constant trap-and-escape routine. It's just not as good as it used to be. ()

Heroes Rise: The Primal Riddle (2017) (S03E17)

English I had almost given up hope for a quality episode this season, but I was pleasantly surprised. I had a great time watching this one, unlike Ben McKenzie, who seemed pretty bored. The Riddler was fantastic as always, Penguin's recruitment promises some interesting episodes ahead, and Selina's storyline is heading in the right direction. ()

Heroes Rise: Light the Wick (2017) (S03E18)

English Pretty unimpressive. The plot was too scattered with too many storylines, which made it feel like nothing really moved forward. Most of the characters are acting predictably, so there's no real tension or surprise. The only standout was Ivy Pepper, who continues to be the most entertaining part of the show for me. ()
