Plots(1)

As another day of fantasy plays out in Westworld – a vast, remote park where guests pay top dollar to share wild-west adventures with android "hosts" – top programmer Bernard Lowe alerts park founder Dr. Robert Ford about incidents of aberrant behavior cropping up in some recently re-coded hosts. Meanwhile, in the Westworld town of Sweetwater, a rancher's daughter named Dolores encounters a gunslinger named Teddy in the street – but their predictable narrative is upended by the appearance of a ruthless Man in Black and, later, by a supporting host's unscripted encounter with an artifact of the outside world. English A smilingly effortful narrative that so far you can see right through. The impression is incredibly sterile and mechanical. Unsympathetic templates instead of characters (perhaps that is the intention, but it doesn't work). The only thing missing is Johnny Cash at the end. Wait. He’s there. Much ado about nothing so far. English A very decent start. The poorly written western setting contrasts beautifully with Harris's killer. Hopkins is brilliant. The final diagnosis, or talking about God and Shakespeare with dad is chilling. Give me more! ()

English The first episode throws you right into the action without much explanation, but luckily, the story starts to unfold before you get completely lost. I was struck by the contrast between the calm, sterile labs and the brutal, wild west scenes, with brains getting blown out left and right. It all comes together perfectly. And sure, I know "Paint It Black," but I've never heard it played like that before. ()
