The Bastard Executioner (2015)

English I admit that my hopes for this series were too high, so I was severely underwhelmed. About halfway into the series I let go of my expectations and started to enjoy some unexpected hilarity. I know this was supposed to be a drama, but I managed to find quite a few comedic elements, although it certainly wasn't anyone's intention. Anyway, I'm glad I got to see Peggy Bundy again after all those years, found out who the most brutal Welsh murderer is, and got to watch a killer turn out to be a Templar and a priest turn out to be a murderer. The funniest characters were Isabel and Milus, those two were really something. ()

Pilot: Part 1 (2015) (E01)

English I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting, probably something along the lines of The Last Kingdom. Unfortunately, the pilot didn't quite hit the mark for me. The plot felt oddly scattered and strongly reminiscent of Gibson's Braveheart. ()

Pilot: Part 2 (2015) (E02)

English It's clear I'm not going to be a fan of this series. The plot leaves a lot to be desired. The dialogue, however, is hilarious. At one point, we're told two legions were lost in a battle with rebels, and moments later, we hear that the baron's squad was attacked by fifty villagers. Fascinating! ()

A Hunger/Newyn (2015) (E04)

English Lady Love and her handmaid made this episode more entertaining than the previous two. Otherwise, the quality remains the same... ()

Piss Profit/Proffidwyr Troeth (2015) (E05)

English Still extremely predictable, but at least this time there was a hint of a coherent plot. ()

Thorns/Drain (2015) (E06)

English In this episode, the "historical" series crossed paths with a soap opera, revealing unexpected family ties and serving up several dramatic moments that made me laugh out loud. Now that I've stopped expecting anything from this show, I'm actually starting to enjoy it. ()

Broken Things/Pethau Toredig (2015) (E08)

English A pretty underwhelming episode. The mysterious tattoos are supposedly the words of some famous carpenter. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be that 33-year-old hippie I caught hanging around my Christmas tree last year. He didn't stick around for long... ()

Blood and Quiescence/Crau a Chwsg (2015) (E10)

English Easily the most entertaining episode of this season. Battles and revelations come one after another, and the day turns to night. There's even some piano music thrown in. I have to admit, the ending genuinely surprised me. Who would have thought that Lady Love would meet such a cruel fate and end up impaled? ()
