ALTAR follows one family as they move into a timeworn, dilapidated country mansion in order to restore it to its former splendor. The Haunting of Radcliffe House is primarily an attempt at atmospheric horror. That attempt didn't quite work out. By the end, it starts to get a bit convoluted, and the individual revelations are no longer worth watching. The Haunting of Radcliffe House impresses mainly with its environment, which is truly terrifying. I think a lot of viewers would give a lot of thought to whether or not they would want to live in a place like that. But real estate advertising shouldn't be the target of a horror movie.
