Battle Cry

From the very beginning, the film introduces us to the main characters, who are heading to war, and where each character is completely different. Intosh in glasses reading some fat book. The proper Amík, who is tough as a pig, a poor boy who is perhaps an even bigger tough guy with a drop of humility, and an Indian who they make fun of. Then the story of the war with a large dose of love stories unfolds, which will fill about 125 minutes of film time and after a while I started skipping through them because I couldn't stand it. And finally, a very massive final war scene takes place, which is massive mainly in terms of the number of actors and extras and for the year 1955, it is quite impressive. But then I remember the 70-minute long Paths of Glory by Kubrick, where the war was oozing, it was filmed in almost the same year, and it was packed with tension like hell, and I just can't help but give it two stars.
