With the Napoleonic Wars seemingly over, Sharpe (Sean Bean) returns to England looking for work. He finds a job working for Sir Willoughby, a wealthy mill owner, but Sharpe finds himself torn between his former friends working in the mill and his new employer, while his wife and her lover Lord Rossendale have taken up residence not far away.
